Why did you start this business? What is your origin story?

I was a child who played for hours in the woods with plants, animals and my imagination, resulting in being the sort of person who always follows my heart. However unconventional that may be, it is the true path for me. I have spent my entire life fascinated with nature. Vast oceans, high mountain peaks, deserts and forests…I spent many years traveling around the US and living in stunning environments such as New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, California, Florida and everywhere in between, mostly camping or living in a similar style. I have had the honor of studying in various locations in the US and India. One of the most profound aspects of this nomadic lifestyle for me was to learn how stunningly beautiful our natural world is and the vast offerings of plant medicine.

As a student of herbal medicine for all of those adventuring years, I was thrilled when I finally found my Ayurvedic medicine teacher. Along with all of the other forms and courses of study in Ayurveda, one of my favorite methods of study was my time under the formal tutelage of my first Ayurvedic medicine teacher. She opened my eyes to the possibilities of essential oils as profound and effective remedies. I was trained very meticulously in the art of formulations and blending.

After many years of continued studies, I opened my first therapeutic massage and bodywork clinic. For 26 years I have had the privilege of working with and listening closely to clients who found respite in traditional natural medicine. Time and time again, my clients requested specifically targeted formulas for topical use to support their needs. Everything from skincare issues to insomnia and migraines. It has been such a wonderful journey to be able to share my training with them and I am so happy to share with you now the results of all of those years of practice and development.

I am a lifetime student of the earth and all of the wonders that it provides. I humbly offer my creations to you in the hopes that they will support you on your journey, whether that be for the best and most vital skin possible or the awakening of coming home to yourself through self care.

What's the story behind the name of your business?

It's my name :)

Did you choose the Main-Dempster Mile? Or did it choose you? Tell us the story of selecting your location.

It seemed to have chosen me. I was at a loss for where to relocate my lab last year. I had searched for an affordable and well sized location for my work space. 800 Dempster just happened to fit the bill. I have REALLY enjoyed joining the MDM community as a merchant. I have always loved shopping in the neighborhood.

What sets your business apart from others that sell the same products?

I hand craft all of my products using absolutely pure plant extracts. I NEVER use any fillers, synthetic fragrances or GMO's. My background is 30 years as an Ayurvedic herbal medicine practitioner. I base all of my formulae in the wisdom of Ayurvedic medicine. I do offer wholesale of my product line so you will see my products around town.

What advice would you give to someone who was thinking about opening a business?

It is not for everyone. Build a team and do your research!
