Why did you start this business? What is your origin story?

I started teaching the guitar in high school as an extension of the love that I felt when I played and studied myself. Over the years, my business has expanded to include other teachers, on different instruments, in order to meet the needs of our clients. The love of music is endless, and I enjoy continuing to develop my own art. This love of learning led me to Spain, where I studied with some of the most renowned flamenco musicians in Spain. With over 15 trips to Spain, I learned a second language, and another music language, the art of Flamenco guitar. My formal education helped develop my teaching methods as well. I studied at Depaul University in my 20s, and received a degree in jazz performance. I also studied education and received a masters in the art of teaching in 2010. In addition to my love of teaching, I have always pursued my love of playing live. Over the years I have had the pleasure of playing with some of the best musicians in Chicago, and my business expanded to booking them for all sorts of weddings, parties, and events of all kinds. The musicians I work with are absolutely top-notch, incredibly professional, and masters of their craft. To summarize, my life has been spent pursuing the love of learning music, teaching music, sharing with the community through education and performance, and providing performance opportunities for myself and others.

How did you choose the Main-Dempster Mile for your location?

We provided excellent entertainment for many different events with The Main-Dempster Mile. We also volunteer at Events for them in order to find new clients. It's nice to be in a neighborhood with activities that we can participate in.

What sets your business apart from others that provide the same service?

Our expertise. Personally, I have traveled to Spain on 15 different occasions in order to study the art of Flamenco guitar. I’ve also taught thousands of lessons, and performed at thousands of events over the last 35 years. Recently hired as the guitar teacher for Evanston High School. I very much enjoy working with kids of all ages, and helping high school kids develop their craft!
